Call centre for visa information opens on Saturdays
The Consular Section of the United States Embassy in a release yesterday announced that its call centre for visa information and appointments is now taking calls on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

The call centre can be reached by dialing 1(800) 572-7780. The charge is US$13.00 for eight minutes, payable by credit card through the call centre, or by cash by buying a personal identification number (PIN) at any National Commercial Bank branch. The centre continues to operate Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. local time, except Jamaican and US holidays.

Visa appointments can also be made via the website www.usvisa-jamaica.com, which is available 24 hours per day. The charge for use of the website is US$10.00 payable at the website by credit card only. There is no provision to pay cash for use of the website.

The embassy reported that in the 17 working days since the consular call centre opened on November 19, 11,609 new visa appointments have been made by phone and through the website.
