My Jamaican top 5 Favourite celebrities

Nelka Clarke

We all have favourites, whether it's those politicians who stand behind their word or who artiste whose song you just can't get enough of. Nelka Clarke, 24, opens up on this week's theme, Jamaican celebrities.

5. Michael Lee Chin

Wow, one of the most brilliant persons in Jamaica ever. Two things that intrigue me about him are his successful track record and his economic genius. He is an excellent example that anything is possible.

4. Asafa Powell

I think he is a great athlete, who has done tremendous things for Jamaica. But the general attitude of Jamaicans is that once you are not at the top again they forgot about what you did to reach there in the first place.

Asafa placed Jamaica on the map after the likes of Donald Quarrie in athletics and people need to support their athletes. And personally, I believe Asafa is sexy as hell.

3. Etana

You know, Etana is just a strong Jamaican woman. She is not afraid to speak her mind. Her lyrical content is clean and influential and I see her as a role model for women in society. Etana to 'di werl'!

2. Edward Seaga

He's one of the most influential Jamaicans ever. He has made a significant contribution to the development and preservation of Jamaican culture. He also started the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission. It is my opinion that he has not been recognised for his contribution to Jamaican culture, not as a politician, but as a cultural ambassador.

1. Beres Hammond

Beres, Beres, Beres. He has an incredible spirit. To me, he is the epitome of the Jamaican people. He produces strong and positive music and in each song he tells a rather interesting story. When you listen to Beres, you can't help but rock!
