Pleasing pixie presents
Payton Wilmott, Gleaner Writer

It's that time of year when grown-ups come together to throw an office party and exchange gifts. What's that dreaded word again? Pixie!

Whenever the town crier goes hollering through the office, some employees become excited while others run or cringe in fear.

But no matter which side you fall on, we all have the same problem of finding the right gift to fit our budget. Today I have a list of four remarkable pixie possibilities that go for $2,000 or less.

Web cameras

Facebook and Hi5 are two popular social-networking websites widely used by Internet-savvy persons in Jamaica. Young and old want to post their pictures on web portals and be known.

There are a bundle of web cameras on the market that are priced below $2,000. The Genius Look 110 is one option. It comes with standard video-recording and photo-capturing capabilities. But it has an added bonus - surveillance capability.

Computer headphones

Headphones would be a great complement for web cameras. To engage in video chats on the Internet, you will need a microphone and speakers or headphones.

Logitech ClearChat Stereo headphones come with microphone already attached so they are pretty much an all-in-one package.

I hope I've helped widen the choices you had for gift ideas for this season. To all, my readers out there, take it easy and try to enjoy the festive season.

Flash drive

Flash drives are getting cheaper by the dozen as the use of floppy disks has plunged in recent years. Now is a great time to get one. Relatively low prices have expanded the possibilities of sourcing high-capacity jump drives.

The ADATA one-gigabyte flash drive is definitely suited for people who regularly store word documents.

Bluetooth headset

Believe it or not, I've found a Bluetooth headset that costs less than two grand. A company called Imicro makes these headsets. They are small, neat and only come in the colour black. There's no way a person would be disappointed with this as a gift, especially if they are phone freaks.
