Crucial wording for sex manuals
The Editor, Sir.,

I am urging persons who are responsible for the drafting of HIV/AIDS workplace manuals to be on guard for the redefining of certain crucial words.

These words include 'sexual intercourse' to include 'anal and oral intercourse' and the redefining of 'discrimination' to include 'sexual orientation'.

These are concerns for the Parliamentary committee as regards the draft national policy, but others might not be aware of them. In Jamaica, where we have determined to keep the heterosexual lifestyle as the preferred lifestyle, let us be careful of the language in our official documentation.

As has been said by others, corruption of the language leads to corruption of thought.

I am, etc.,
