Pulse CMS down to six

It's been a wonderful season, full of glamour and drama on the Pulse Caribbean Model Search Reality TV Series. After weeks of living and breathing fashion, we are only a show away from naming one lucky girl the Caribbean's newest face of fashion.

Renae Blackwell, Kannigia Buckle, Crystal Patterson, Jodi Ann Richards and Racquel Smith were named by the panel as CMS Season Three's 'fabulous five', beating out 17 other beauties for the coveted spots, or so it seemed, until Pulse boss Kingsley Cooper made an announcement.

In a surprising turn of events, the first time in the history of the CMS Reality Series, the 'fashionable five' became the 'stylish six'. Pulse CEO and head CMS judge Kingsley Cooper evened out the set by adding another girl to the group - Tasha Kaye Myers. The usually shy beauty broke into tears after she received the confidence vote from Cooper.

Great potential

"I believe that you have great potential and the judges would like to see you advance in the final set," he said. Overwhelmed, Tasha Kaye thanked the panel for the marvellous opportunity and pledged to do her very best in the finals.

With the six beauties named, it was on to the day's fashion forward challenge. The ladies were transported by Toyota Jamaica in deluxe SUVs to the day's ultra-secret location. The journey ended at Johnson's River in St Thomas where the finalists were charged to do a bikini photo shoot while battling the elements of wind and water. Which girl 'weathered' the challenge?

In tonight's episode, the ladies show off their fresh, new looks, courtesy of Salon Innovation and recount their personal highlights of the season, as well as their concerns going into the finals. Twenty-year-old Renae Blackwell was optimistic when asked about her expectations.

"This was definitely a fulfilling experience for me and I can go into the finals knowing that I've done my best," she said.

The bubbly Kannigia Buckle shared similar sentiments.

"This CMS experience was unlike anything I've ever done and, now that it all comes down to the finals, I think I'm ready to win.

Crystal Patterson, who was on a winning streak earlier in the series, hopes her luck continues.

"I was doing really well in the earlier challenges, so I hope the judges see how much I really want to win now that we are approaching the finals," she said.

Optimism

Optimistic attitudes certainly rule the roost but, for friends Jodi and Racquel, there are some doubts as to whether their blossoming friendship will survive the final test.

"We have to keep in mind, at all times, that this is a competition and, even though we are great friends, we are also competitors," says Jodi, "Hopefully, the outcome will not affect our friendship and may the better girl win."

Throughout the season, the girls have been tutored on personal grooming and style and they have been given an insight into the world of modelling by the Caribbean's most prominent style stars and image makers, and each girl is adamant to prove she has the goods to become the region's top new fashion face. However, only one model will win the grand prize of a Pulse modelling contract, valued at over $200,000, plus the opportunity to launch an international career.

A brand-new episode of Pulse's Caribbean Model Search airs tonight on CVM TV at nine with a repeat on Tuesday at 5:05 p.m.
