TVJ scores with choirs and quiz
The Editor, Sir:

My family and I had the pleasure of watching the TVJ 'All Together Sing' high schools choir competition final show last Sunday evening and we wish to commend TVJ and everyone associated with the show for presenting such a positive force for good to our society.

Albert Town High school deserved to win as this choir showed a lot of improvement in each succeeding week. Rusea's and Mona High schools also performed exceedingly well and deserved to be in the finals. It was so very nice and delightful to see so many young people, especially so many young men, singing loudly and clearly and with deep feeling about wholesome things like Trelawny yam on national television. What a great example setting!

Knowledge

Last week, I was also very happy to watch the TVJ Junior Schools' Challenge Quiz with young children showing the amount of knowledge they have and with composure and confidence, also on national television. This programme was won by an inner-city school, Windward Road Primary and Junior High, which deserved to win. The girls on the team are real lion-hearted champions who 'got going when the going got tough'.

In my opinion, TVJ is showing the nation that you don't have to follow the crowd down the road of coarseness and crassness to succeed and that good ideas, well done, can win the day, at least in my book and in my family's book. Thank you TVJ.

I am, etc.,
