Despite the threats of heavy rainfall, the Grace Tropical Rhythms Port Royal Seafood Festival had enough ingredients to be a special occasion for those who turned out.

The event, which was held at the Port Royal football field in East Kingston last Sunday, saw scores of patrons of all ages and from all walks of life, 'vibing' to the many attractions.

But it was the celebrity cook-off between the likes of female entertainers Macka Diamond and Cameal Davis and sports commentator Oral Tracey and journalist Jermaine Brown, that grabbed the audience's attention.

Excitement

Participants' skills were put on display and patrons watched and cheered. In the end, it was Davis who walked away with bragging rights as the best 'Grace Jack Mackerel Seafood celebrity chef.'

Then, thunder echoed loudly and it began to rain. But patrons were reluctant to leave and could be seen under tents provided by companies that displayed their products.

The patrons were rewarded for their patience with a number of good performances.

Tarrus Riley pleased the crowd with She's Royal, Far Away and Stay With You.

Etana proved she was very strong as her self-scripted lyrics for the hit song, Roots, saw patrons rocking and singing under the chilly conditions.

Ernie Smith was not to be left out, and though he performed briefly, he took mature patrons down memory lane with Duppy Gun Man and Pitta Patta.

Thrilling performance

Earlier, performances from Goddy Goddy, Marvin Fishley and Teena Tamara had graced the night's proceedings, with Goddy Goddy's Chakka Chi Chi being well received.

K'Alee joined the act and delivered well. Her free-flowing voice allowed her to give a thrilling performance of Beyonce's Listen.

Dancing Dynamite's Venom Squad and Unlimited Dancers made good use of their time onstage, and, following their eye-catching dance moves, the crowd chanted, "we want more."

Emcee Pretty Boy Floyd was at his usual best and gave the audience some belly-busting jokes while onstage.
