I WOULD like to add to Rudy Robinson's comments ('Engi-neering and the UWI', letter of December 6), by stating that the idea of a campus at the other end of the island is a grand idea. This could be the start of correcting the imbalance in how we educate and prepare our people for the future.
Scientific focus
I suggest that this campus could concentrate on scientific areas such as agricultural sciences (to include food and environmental sciences); forensics; sports and bio-medical sciences and alternative medicine. The skills and training (of the mind) that can be acquired in research, project development and project management could make this country great.
The children of Jamaica will then have something to aspire to. Rather than going abroad to be used and abused they could be encouraged to build their own heaven on earth, right here, right now.
I am, etc.,
