Island couture - spices up the season
Latoya Grindley, Gleaner Writer

Left: This model confidently rocks this grey dress with black lining and a matching hat. Dress designed by Keneea Linton. Right: Black is bold, and combined with colours, it becomes even bolder. This Yola Gray-designed sheer dress is given the special oomph at the hemline, which pops with colour and blends in nicely with the rest of the dress.

To inform the public about the talent on the local design scene, another in the series of Island Couture: Rhythms of Jamaican Fashion was held two Sundays ago at the Hilton Kingston, Jamaica. At the fashion show, guests were treated to some of the latest designs and trends for this season. For this show, only pieces from three prominent local designers were showcased; Yola Gray, Les Campbell and Keneea Linton.

The show, which lasted just under two hours, introduced the pieces with a scripted introduction about each. As for the designs, the trend throughout was bright colours and shades of black, brown and grey. For Keneea Linton, her theme was easily recognised, as she stuck mostly to the colours black and purple. These are said to be two of the colours of Christmas in the fashion world.
