Jamaica's Uzuri International will be clothing all 112 of this year's Miss World contestants, in the opening number of the competition on December 13.
Mark McDermoth, of the designing duo said "The inspiration for the Miss World designs is what we interpret as the brilliance of the Jamaican sunshine, the inviting allure of the Caribbean Sea, the spice and excitement of the Jamaican experience and the warmth of the Jamaican spirit."
He noted that Miss World's organiser, Julia Morley, dubbed the designs as 'fantastic' and expressed great desire for a future alliance with Uzuri International designs.
Ecstatic and excited
Karl Williams is currently on his way to Johannesburg, South Africa, where this year's competition is being held. He is ecstatic and excited that he will be working with the contestants and Morley. "He is also very humbled by the overall experience and the positive response Morley and her team has shown in Uzuri's work," noted McDermoth. "It is so amazing how Morley has embraced our designs and has placed faith in a small organisation from Jamaica to design and manufacture the opening pieces for this prestigious show with a history of more than 50 years."
