Waulgrovians won't ease up on New Kgn

Rally champions Waulgrovians 'A' will be seeking their second consecutive victory in the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Open League competition, when they face New Kingston Raiders 'B' today at the Leila Robinson Courts, starting at 6:10 p.m.

Also at the same time, Windalco will oppose Maverley 'A'.

Waulgrovians thrashed Millennium Strikers 54-10 in their game last Saturday.

Going to compete

However, despite the standard of their opponents in today's match, Simone Forbes, captain of Waulgrovians, said they will be taking the game very seriously.

"Waulgrovians take no one lightly because we are going to play this game as if we playing one of the top teams in the country," said Forbes. "We are going out there to compete because we have been working very hard at our game, regardless of our opponents."

Besides Forbes, Waulgrovians' game is expected to centre around their national representatives Christina Solmon, Paula Thompson and Althea Byfield, and former national captain and coach, Oberon Pitterson.

The Raiders, who went down 32-26 to Up Park Camp in their opening match last Saturday, will pin their hopes on centre Lynette Chin-McDaniel, goal defence Eretta Spence and goal shooter Janease Murray.

In the day's other games, at 3:40 p.m. defending champions Tivoli Gardens 'A' oppose New Kingston Raiders 'A', also at the same time, Skibo 'B' await Bridgeport, Maverley 'B' battle Jetsetters 'C' and Eden Strikers tackle Blades United 'B' at 4:30 p.m.

In the opening matches at 1:15 p.m., Rollington Town host Jamaica Fire Brigade, Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) tackle Hagley Park 'B', Omega 'B' battle East Central and Jetsetters 'B' entertain Police 'C'.

At 2 p.m., Blades United 'A' challenge Ravens 'B', Alexander Strikers 'A' await Millennium Strikers, Correctional Services tackle Alexander Strikers 'B' and Duhaney Strikers 'B' battle Speg 'B'.

Other matches

At 2:50 p.m., Alpha challenge Hagley Park 'A', Leiba Gardens entertain Tivoli Gardens 'B', Ravens 'C' battle Jetsetters 'A' and G.C. Foster College Strikers host Progressive Strikers.

At 4:30 p.m., Friendship await Hampshire 'C', Red Challenge play Skibo 'A', Speg 'A' tackle Omega 'A' and Boulevard Baptist battle Ravens 'A'.

At 5:20 p.m., Rivoli United aim at Hampshire 'A', Molynes United 'B' face Ebony Strikers, Waulgrovians 'B' battle Arnett Gardens and Duhaney Strikers 'A' challenge Police 'A'.
