Quiz champs score again

The Editor, Sir:

It is so good to see Windward Road All-age School being the champions for the third consecutive year in TVJ's Junior School's Challenge Quiz. As always, the team members, like those from the two previous years, displayed such humility as they moved through the competition until they were declared the champions.

All the teachers at that school, and particularly the quiz coaches, deserve special commendation for what they are doing at Windward Road. It is excellence such as this that the minister of education needs to zero in on and possibly reward the teachers at that institution with a salary that is based on performance.

It is good to see that the four schools reaching the semi-finals were all primary/all-age schools. This, in my view, indicates that there are still very good teachers in the Government system, who impart knowledge to disciplined students, who are serious about their education.

Some preparatory schools did well too but, to have an all-age school, from Windward Road, winning three consecutive years, is more than worthy of extra commendation.

Congratulations again Windward Road All-age and continue to make excellence your goal.

I am, etc.,
