Could Mumbai happen here?
The Editor, Sir:

Three days in Mumbai - could it happen here? What's here to stop it? I have always believed in Murphy's Law: If something can happen, it will.

For whatever reason, the terrorists in Mumbai were clear on one thing, and that was to kill as many foreigners as possible and too bad for those who got in their way.

It is reported that they (the terrorists) simply walked ashore on an unguarded coast without any questions asked. See any similarity with Jamaica here?

Wasting billions

For many years, those leaders we put in charge have been pussyfooting around with the security of this country.

While we waste billions on Air Jamaica, other white elephants and five-star travel/accommodation on unproductive trips, the security ministry has to put up with crumbs.

We now have a few British police officers who, I believe, are among the best in the world, but they are working with 'stone axes' instead of the titanium they are used to. Also, much of the local force is involved in various corrupt practices.

I am, etc.,

PHIL FOSTER
