THE EDITOR, Sir:

During the PIOJ's quarterly press briefing on November 17, 2008, I incorrectly compared the flat GDP performance for the July-September quarter with a 2.7 per cent decline for the corresponding period in 2007.

The correct comparison is actually between a flat GDP performance in the Goods Producing Sector in the third quarter 2008 and a 2.4 per cent decline in the corresponding period of 2007.

Additionally, Total GDP for July-September 2008 was flat compared with a growth of 0.4 per cent in the same quarter for 2007.

The error is regretted.
