My down time

Bruce Bowen has a fun side too and on his visit to Beres Hammond's music studio last week, he got a chance to really hear how those lovers' rock tunes sound. Hammond is in the background. Scotiabank is the major sponsor of the much-anticipated concert. - Contributed

Scotiabank has a new man at the helm and he is busy getting used to Jamaica, his new job and meeting all the players in the banking sector. The Sunday Gleaner asked Bruce Bowen to share a little of his lighter side with us. He is married to a daughter of the region (Trinidadian) and this is not the first time he has been to the island.

1. What book did you last read?

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. The book tells the story of Amir, a boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, who is haunted by the guilt of betraying his childhood friend Hassan, the son of his father's Hazara servant. The story is set against a backdrop of tumultuous events, from the fall of the monarchy in Afghanistan through the Soviet invasion, the mass exodus of refugees to Pakistan and the United States, and the rise of the Taliban regime. Beres Hammond's A Moment in Time which I got last week.

3. Where was the last interesting place you visited?

Madrid, Spain - a wonderful city to explore on foot.
