Long overdue
The Editor, Sir:

I WISH to share with your avid rea-ders my take on capital punishment, which has created quite a stir lately. So many people in Jamaica are suffering and living in fear and if the only thing that can minimise these illicit acts is to resume capital punishment, I ask, what is the Government of this country waiting on?

Some might argue that it's unconventional, but what are we to do when so many of our children are being kidnapped, raped and slaughtered? Fear needs to be driven into these criminals; make them feel what we are feeling.

But, before the recommencing of capital punishment, the Government needs to cleanse the corrupt justice system we have in this country, because if that system isn't disin-fected, an innocent man may end up getting capital punishment. And we wouldn't want that now, would we?

I say its long overdue.

I am, etc.,

Ackee
