It was a simple yet sophisticated launch of Island Couture at the Hilton Kingston poolside on Tuesday evening.

Designs from the Jamaica Fashion and Apparel Cluster were on display and the event was complemented by music from Kai Wakeling.

After the audience was briefed on the operations and goals of the 82-member cluster, they were treated to powerful dancing from students of the Edna Manley College School of Dance. Moving to Hush by Sizzla and Kim Davis, the dancers enticed the audience.

Hip hop moves

The male started with hip hop dance moves and the girl entered the stage doing ballet. Then, they danced to Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks' No Air. Afterwards, another male dancer joined them on-stage, incorporating dancehall into the routine with Elephant Man's Dip Again.

Then, models from Liquid Gold Model Agency displayed designs from Yola Gray, Les Campbell and Keneea Linton. Their presentation of stunning designs was well-received by the audience.

Wakeling continued to sing beautiful reggae music, providing the perfect ambience for the guests and cluster members to mingle, take pictures and even purchase some of the designs on display.
