Sketch a Venn diagram of a group of women leaving a club and very few would fall in the intersection where their hair, clothes and make-up are all neatly in place.
This select few have a number of tricks up their sleeves and we're not talking about just standing around the party and never moving an inch. We wanted to get in on at least one category of their tricks, the make-up. The professionals have tested and swear by the power of products and techniques in helping your hard work last longer.
So, in addition to your beauty regimen, be sure to sneak in these products and techniques and see if that glow will last all night long.
Tips for making your make-up stick
Step 1: Foundation
Follow your regular steps: cleanse, tone and moisturise your skin. However, before putting on your foundation, apply a few drops of foundation primer with your fingertips all over your face. "Use upwards and outwards motions," said make-up artist Jeneva Worms. "It (the primer) allows for more movement on the skin and the foundation to set," said Worms. The transparent lightweight gel is available in most make-up brands. After applying either cream to powder or liquid foundation, remember to top it off with pressed powder that also helps the foundation to stay put.
Step 2: Eyeshadow
There's a primer for eyeshadow too. It not only allows your colours to stay put, but to come out brighter.
"It's not necessarily for everyday wear, but it really helps with longevity when you need staying power," said Worms. The pearlescent powder goes on before the shadow.
Step 3: Eyeliner
Tap some powder around the eyes to seal the eyeliner.
Step 4: Lips
Line the lips with your choice of colour lip liner, and fill the inside with a nude coloured liner and you are ready to apply gloss or lipstick.
What of long lasting lipsticks? "Most of them don't work, the ones that do work are usually very expensive," she said. You can also put foundation and powder on your lips before adding colour.
